Why surface cleaning fails on pet urine
Pet urine soaks through the pile, through the foundation, and pools on whatever surface is under the rug — hardwood, carpet, pad. Topical cleaners mask the smell for a few weeks, then the crystals reactivate and the odour returns.
Foundation-level decontamination handles the problem by submerging the rug, applying enzyme pre-treatment to break down uric-acid crystals, and rinsing the foundation clean. It is the only method that addresses the root of the smell.
Our pet odour removal process — step by step
- 01
Assessment
UV inspection to map contamination exactly. Surface smell tells us where — not how deep.
- 02
Pre-treatment
Enzyme application breaks down uric-acid crystals in the foundation. This is the step most cleaners skip.
- 03
Submersion wash
Full foundation decontamination by cold-water hand wash. The foundation is where the smell lives.
- 04
Neutralisation
pH-balanced rinse and odour neutralisation. If there is still odour after this step, we repeat.
- 05
Controlled drying
Flat-dried at room temperature to prevent reactivation of residual odour compounds.
